Congratulations Class of 2019

Posted on May 21, 2019

Class of 2019, CONGRATULATIONS on your graduation! The men and women of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office are proud of your accomplishments. As you get ready for other endeavors in life, whether it be going to college, technical school, the military or the work force, we wish you the best. You all deserve to have fun this weekend but we want you to be safe so that you can have many more milestones to celebrate, so please make wise choices to stay safe. Buckle up, don’t drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, don’t ride with an impaired driver, reduce speed and distractions. Have a great summer!

May God richly bless you all.

Scam Alert

Posted on June 14, 2018

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has received multiple reports of debit account fraud from several victims, particularly in the Odum area. Please check your accounts and ensure there aren’t any fraudulent charges.

UPDATE:
Today 06/11/2018, we examined the pumps at Odum General. The owner was very helpful in assisting us and the inspector from the state. The owner also wants to find out who may be responsible.
At this time, we did not find a device (skimmer) on the pumps. Continue to keep watch on your accounts and report any fraud to your financial institution. You can also file a report with us.
Thank you again to everyone who helped bring this to our attention and spread the word.

FLAG DAY

Posted on June 13, 2018

Sheriff John G Carter wishes to remind everyone that June 14 is National Flag Day.  All citizens are encouraged to attend the annual Flag Day services which will be held at the Jesup Elks Lodge, located at 1802 S Hwy 301, Jesup, GA, next to the skating rink, on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 7:30 am.  This Annual event is sponsored by Jesup Elks Lodge #2133.  Also participating will be VFW Post # 4583 and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard.

Flag Day is celebrated each June 14, the date designated by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916. It honors the creation of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. Flag Day was not formally recognized until President Harry Truman, himself an Elk, signed a 1949 resolution declaring Flag Day a national day of observation. The Continental Congress adopted the design of the Stars and Stripes on June 14, 1777, resolving: “The flag of the United States shall be 13 stripes, alternate red and white,” and that “the Union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

Each year on June 14, every Elks Lodge is mandated to conduct a Flag Day ceremony.  This ceremony is open to the public so that we can show our community that we honor our flag and all it stands for.
