Posted on May 21, 2019

Class of 2019, CONGRATULATIONS on your graduation! The men and women of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office are proud of your accomplishments. As you get ready for other endeavors in life, whether it be going to college, technical school, the military or the work force, we wish you the best. You all deserve to have fun this weekend but we want you to be safe so that you can have many more milestones to celebrate, so please make wise choices to stay safe. Buckle up, don’t drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, don’t ride with an impaired driver, reduce speed and distractions. Have a great summer!

May God richly bless you all.

Peace Officer Memorial Day

Posted on May 14, 2019

In observance of National Peace Officer Memorial Day all flags should be lowered to half- staff on May 15th from sunrise to sunset. In the aftermath of last Saturday's line of duty death of Sgt. Kelvin Ansari of the Savannah Police Department, Governor Kemp may order the flags remain lowered until the conclusion of Sgt. Ansari's funeral. Please pray for his family and friends and his brothers and sisters at Savannah P.D.

Last year one hundred sixty three Peace Officers lost their lives in the line of duty. . To date this year 42 have been killed.

It is our prayer that the citizens of our county and state know and understand the daily sacrifices made by our officers and is equally as important to remember those who have made the "ultimate sacrifice"

Thanks and God Bless,

Sheriff John G. Carter

Scam Alert

Posted on June 14, 2018

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has received multiple reports of debit account fraud from several victims, particularly in the Odum area. Please check your accounts and ensure there aren’t any fraudulent charges.

UPDATE:
Today 06/11/2018, we examined the pumps at Odum General. The owner was very helpful in assisting us and the inspector from the state. The owner also wants to find out who may be responsible.
At this time, we did not find a device (skimmer) on the pumps. Continue to keep watch on your accounts and report any fraud to your financial institution. You can also file a report with us.
Thank you again to everyone who helped bring this to our attention and spread the word.
