Wayne County Sheriff's Office Junior Deputy Academy
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office will be conducting its fourth annual Junior Deputy Academy June 10-14, 2024. During the week cadets will be instructed hands-on, learning crime scene investigations, firearms, pursuit driving, and much more. Cadets will be tasked to solve a crime, learning hands on every step of the process. On Friday, cadets will present their case in a mock trial. This event is free to all middle school aged students for the 2023-2024 school year who reside in Wayne County. All cadets will be issued a uniform shirt and any other necessary supplies. Lunches will be provided daily at no cost. Applications will be accepted online and to the Wayne County Sheriff;s Office until May 10, 2024; late entries will not be accepted. All applications will be judged by a committee and all winning applicants will be notified by phone and email.

Women’s Self Defense class for the College of Charleston
Todd Wise, of the Wayne County Sheriff’s office, conducted a women’s self defense class for the College of Charleston’s Cross Country and Track and Field team. Female athletes and coaches participated in the two day class. All that attended the class shared high remarks and great appreciation for the opportunity to learn such valuable skills. The College was so grateful that Sheriff Mosley of Wayne County firmly supported this endeavor to promote safety on their campus. Todd Wise is also involved locally as he serves on the Wayne County Board of Education representing District 3.
