Graduating Class of 2020

Posted on May 18, 2020

To the Class of 2020, You have been confronted with more challenges than any other graduating class in my lifetime. Because of COVID-19 you have been forced to adapt to many cancelled events and lifestyle changes. The men and women of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office are proud of your accomplishments under trying circumstances. As with every challenge comes an opportunity. As I have said in the past as you prepare for your next undertaking in life, whether it’s going to college, technical school, the military or the work force, we wish you all the best. It is our prayer that you stay safe so you will have many more milestones to celebrate.

 Have a great summer!

May God Bless you all and keep you,

Sheriff John G. Carter, Marcia Carter & Staff

Peace Officer Memorial Day 2020

Posted on May 12, 2020

Peace Officers Memorial Day is held each year on May 15th in remembrance of all peace officers injured or killed in the line of duty. In 2019, 134 officers lost their lives in line of duty incidents. Thus far, we have had 71 officers that have lost their lives in 2020. We pray for the friends and families of each and every officer who gave all. I know in my heart they will not be forgotten. In observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day all flags should be flown at half-staff on May 15th from sunrise to sunset. It is our prayer that God protect all our men and women in law enforcement as they provide safety, protection and aid to our citizens we have taken an oath to serve.
